The latest on Hojlund and Amrabat to Man Utd

Manchester United’s focus right now is on a new striker, but I’m also getting a lot of questions from fans about Sofyan Amrabat. As I’ve said many times, the Fiorentina midfielder is on United’s list, he’s really appreciated by Erik ten Hag and is aware of United’s interest, so there is a good feeling there.

You may remember that United or one of the clubs calling for Amrabat at the end of the January transfer window. They were looking for a last-minute option and tried for Amrabat before Marcel Sabitzer. It was impossible to sign Amrabat from Fiorentina at that moment, but he’s still on the list at Manchester United. There were positive conversations between Amrabat and United weeks ago, but this is not something new, it remains valid.

After signing a striker and focusing on outgoings such as Fred and maybe Donny van de Beek, United will focus on a new midfielder, and for sure Amrabat is one of the names on their list.

Still, after signing Mason Mount and Andre Onana, United know that a new striker is something important. The priority target remains Rasmus Hojlund - as I said last week, they have agreed personal terms with the player. We’re still waiting for them to submit an official opening bid to Atalanta, but they will not over-pay. They will pay what they believe is a correct fee, and my understanding is that they could start negotiations around a fee of something like £55-60m. We will see soon what is the value of the bid, but Man United will bid for Hojlund for sure, and it’s expected to be this week.
