Andre Onana is determined to win the FA Cup after semifinal heroics
The Man United goalkeeper saved a penalty in the shootout to take his team to the final.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is delighted to help his team qualify for the FA Cup final and he is determined to win it.
The Red Devils were involved in a penalty shootout against Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal.
After leading the match 3-0, Man United surrendered their three goal lead and Coventry managed to draw the match at 3-3 in the second half.
But the Premier League side managed to win the penalty shootout with Onana saving one of the penalties.
The win takes Man United to the FA Cup final once again, where they will face arch rivals Manchester City, just like last season.
Onana is confident ahead of the final as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X account.
The goalkeeper said, as quoted by Romano:
"We are Manchester United, still the biggest club in the country. We must win, always".
" We feel good, we feel happy to be in a final. We'll come back here to win. The most important thing is the victory. We're in the final, that's what matters".
With a goal in the 23rd minute by Scott McTominay, the Red Devils went ahead.
Harry Maguire extended his team's lead just before halftime with a powerful header from a corner.
Just before the hour mark, United captain Bruno Fernandes made it 3-0 by capitalising on a defensive blunder by Coventry.
Ellis Simms scored for 3-1 to start the incredible comeback story for the Sky Blues.
After Callum O'Hare's deflected attempt beat Andre Onana to make it 3-2, Haji Wright's penalty in the 95th minute completed an incredible comeback to send the legendary FA Cup match into extra time.
In the 120th minute, Victor Torp appeared to have made FA Cup history, but VAR disqualified his shot because it was offside throughout the build-up.
In the penalty shootout, Rasmus Hojlund scored the game-winning kick to save Man United's blushes and guarantee their place in the final.
Manchester City are waiting in the final once again for Man United. It is a repeat of last season's final which the Premier League champions won 2-1.
Meanwhile, Man United are monitoring Bundesliga defender among other defensive targets.
