🚨🚨 BREAKING: Ornstein breaks major Liverpool transfer story that no one saw coming
Looks like this is nearly done!
Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson looks to be on his way to Tottenham in a surprise January transfer window move.
David Ornstein broke the story this morning on X, claiming that talks are advancing well between all parties.
Nothing is done yet, but it looks like Robertson is nearing a move to Spurs after falling down the pecking order in Arne Slot’s side this season.
David Ornstein and others on Andrew Robertson to Tottenham transfer
Ornstein posted: “EXCL: Tottenham Hotspur working on deal to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool. #THFC brought forward plan to vie for 31yo #LFC left-back as free agent this summer; not done but talks between all parties advancing in bid to reach agreement.”
Meanwhile, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has also added further detail to the story, claiming that a verbal agreement is already done.
Plettenberg said: “Tottenham Hotspur are now pushing to sign Andy Robertson with immediate effect. After TheAthletic Understand a verbal agreement is done. Clubs are now in negotiations.”
It’s been a disappointing season for Tottenham, so the signing of an experienced winner like Robertson looks ideal to help settle things down in the second half of the campaign.
Andrew Robertson leaves as a Liverpool legend
Robertson is undoubtedly one of the great modern Liverpool players, forming a key part of title winning sides under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
The Scotland international will surely be missed at Anfield, but he’s also not getting any younger and now seems to be clearly behind Milos Kerkez in the pecking order.
Robertson will turn 32 later this season and it seems he’s decided he’ll have to move to play regularly again, having only started four Premier League matches this season.
If he’s still around by this weekend’s game against Bournemouth he’ll surely get a fond farewell from LFC supporters for his years of great service.
