Ange Postecoglou confirms Timo Werner will miss the rest of the season
Spurs suffer injury blow to Werner after he went off against Arsenal in the derby.
Due to a hamstring injury, Tottenham attacker Timo Werner will not be able to play again this season.
Werner was forced off during Sunday's 3-2 loss to Arsenal, and Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, does not expect seeing the loanee from RB Leipzig on the pitch again this season.
Tottenham travel to Chelsea in the Premier League tomorrow and Werner will miss the big clash against his former team.
The German attacker spent two seasons at Chelsea and helped the club win the Champions League title.
Since joining Spurs in January, Werner has made 14 appearances, scoring twice and dishing out three assists.
The North London club have the option of making the deal permanent at the end of the season.
According to Ben Jacob on his X account, Postecoglou provided the update on Werner's fitness concerns.
The Tottenham manager said, as quoted by Jacobs:
“Timo’s got a hamstring injury. There's two-and-a-half weeks left so he will miss the rest of the season.”
Jacobs goes on to mention that the Premier League club have a €17m option to buy the German international.
Werner would like to make his move to the Premier League permanent.
With back-to-back away games against Chelsea and Liverpool over the next four days, Tottenham have a demanding final stretch of games before the season ends.
Fresh from their defeat against local rivals Arsenal, Spurs would be hoping to get back to their best and push Aston Villa for the fourth place in the Premier League in order to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Tottenham will soon have to make the decision about Werner's future, whether they want to keep him at the club or send him back to RB Leipzig.
They have the option of making the deal permanent for just €17m. It remains to be seen which direction they take in terms of the former Chelsea star's future.
