Arda Guler has never requested to leave Real Madrid
Reports in April suggested that the teenager wanted a loan move away from Madrid.
Arda Guler has NOT told Real Madrid that he wishes to spend the 2024/25 season elsewhere.
The 19-year-old joined Madrid from Fenerbahce in July 2023 but had to wait until January 2024 to make his debut following multiple injuries.
He has since made 11 first-team appearances in total, scoring four goals.
Reports in the Spanish press in April suggested that Guler had told Madrid that he was keen to go out on loan this summer in order to get more game time next season.
Sevilla and Real Betis were both said to be interested in the Turkey international.
However, Fabrizio Romano wrote on X.com on Wednesday: “Arda Guler has never requested to leave Real Madrid on loan, despite reports in April.
“He was always going to assess the situation with Real in the summer but always being patient, waiting for his opportunity.
“Real staff, extremely happy with his development.”
Guler scored for the second game in a row on Tuesday when he came off the bench to bag a goal in a 5-0 home win over Deportivo Alaves.
That came three days after he had marked his first full 90 minutes in La Liga by netting in a 4-0 away victory at Granada.
Guler’s other two goals for Madrid came in wins over Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo.
Madrid’s attacking options are set to be boosted this summer by the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick from Paris Saint-Germain and Palmeiras respectively.
However, there could still be space for former Newcastle and Stoke forward Joselu at the Bernabeu next season.
Joselu is currently on loan at Madrid from Espanyol.
Matteo Moretto suggested in his exclusive column earlier this week that Joselu, Mbappe and Endrick could possibly coexist in the same squad next season.
Moretto wrote: “The idea is to bring in Endrick and bring back Joselu too.
“My understanding is that there are teams asking about Joselu, he’s a forward that is experienced, he scores goals and he’s cheap, so he could be a bargain.
“But he has given absolute priority to Real Madrid, the two sides will sit down soon to work it out, and I believe that keeping Joselu is Real Madrid’s priority too.”
