Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta provides update on Jurrien Timber
Timber has been out of action since the start of the season.
Arsenal's summer signing Jurrien Timber's long-term injury sustained on his Premier League debut was unfortunate but a comeback may be imminent now.
After joining from Ajax, Timber looked good in the preseason and excelled in the Community Shield.
However, in his league debut against Nottingham Forest, he tore his cruciate ligament.
With this injury, it was expected that the Dutch international would miss the entire season.
However, in recent months, he resumed training, and supporters are thrilled about the possibility that he will participate this season.
Mikel Arteta has now provided an update about his potential injury comeback and complimented the defender on his training results since his recuperation.
Fabrizio Romano reported the update from the Arsenal manager on his X account.
Arteta said, as quoted by Romano:
“Jurrien Timber looks really good in training. It’s too soon for him to play but he will be tested again the U23s and then we see”.
“I see him in right and left-fullback. We will use him in different ways”.
The Dutch international joined the North London club with huge expectations in the summer.
Timber was expected to play a crucial role this season for the Gunners but his injury came as a massive blow to Arsenal early in the season.
It remains to be seen when the defender will eventually make his comeback and how the Arsenal boss will use him.
Coming back after a lengthy absence, Timber will need to be carefully managed by the Arsenal staff.
There could be new left-back arriving at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
The Gunners are also expected to sign a new striker and the latest update has been provided about their interest in Victor Osimhen.
