While there is no confirmation yet on just how long William Saliba will be out with his back injury, there is understandable concern at Arsenal.
I’m reliably told that the club want to take a look at Saliba’s situation themselves before rushing into any conclusions, despite reports in the French press stating that he’s facing four or five months out. “It’s too early to put a timeline on that”, one well-placed source told me this morning.
Still, Arsenal had been open to adding a new centre-back to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer anyway, and that’s likely to intensify now as it seems clear the extra depth will be needed.
