Today’s top stories:

  • Plus more from Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid

    Arsenal

  • Mikel Arteta on winning Premier League title: ā€œI’m obsessed with doing everything that I possibly can every single day to achieve it. That’s my obsession. I’m very obsessed by the process… the actual outcome, I cannot controlā€.

  • Arsenal 0-1 West Ham United: Arsenal suffered a home defeat against Graham Potter’s West Ham United side. The Gunners lost because of a goal scored by Jarrod Bowen in a match which saw another red card for Mikel Arteta’s side. Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off after a foul on Mohamed Kudus for a last man challenge. Mikel Merino started as the striker for Arsenal but failed to make any impact in a poor result for the Gunners.

  • Arteta after the defeat: ā€œI am very, very angry. Very disappointed. That was nowhere near the level needed to win the Premier Leagueā€. ā€œCongrats to West Ham but a lot from our side we didn’t get right. I never felt that we were at the standard and the level that we neededā€.

  • Arsenal are now eight points behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool side who will face Manchester City on Sunday.

Atalanta

  • Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini: ā€œLookman felt offended, but I didn't want to offend anyone. He entered with fantastic approach against Club Bruggeā€. ā€œIf he starts training to improve on penalties… with his exceptional skills Ademola can become our first penalty takerā€.
