ππ€ Arsenal, Man City or Spurs? Fabrizio Romano has his say on how the Premier League title race is shaping up...
We're almost a third of the way through the season...
Fabrizio Romano has had his say on how this seasonβs Premier League title race is shaping up, with Arsenal winning yesterday while Tottenham made it back-to-back defeats.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are due to play Chelsea today, so itβs sure to be an interesting weekend at the top of the table as we near a third of the way through the season.
Spurs started so well but now seem to have slipped up with their late disappointment against both Chelsea and Wolves, and it seems Romano now expects their bad luck with injuries is going to count against them.
Writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing column this morning, Romano made it clear he felt it was likely to be a two-horse race between Arsenal and Man City for the title this year.
βWeβre almost a third of the way into the season now, so how is the title race shaping up? Weβve had a bit of a surprise already so far as Tottenham have been hugely impressive, only to stutter a little in their last two games,β Romano said.
βMy personal feeling is that itβs looking like Arsenal and Manchester City will be the main teams fighting for the title. Spurs are doing something special, and I want to say congrats to them really, but with injuries to key players like James Maddison itβs very difficult to keep going. Theyβve been really unlucky with their results in recent days, conceding crucial goals in stoppage time against both Chelsea and Wolves.
βBut overall I see a battle between City and Arsenal. Weβre maybe yet to see either of them at their very best yet this season, but they have so much quality in both squads, and have coped well despite key injuries, with City having to play without Kevin De Bruyne so far this season, while Arsenal have barely been able to play their strongest XI as Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey have hardly featured, and others like Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard have missed a lot of games.β
