Premier League round-up

West Ham remain 19th after home defeat vs Brentford

Brentford secured a deserved 2-0 win over West Ham in Monday night’s Premier League clash.

The Bees created plenty of chances and could have scored more with better finishing.

Igor Thiago opened the scoring after Areola’s save crept over the line, while Mathias Jensen sealed the victory late on, capping a dominant performance away from home.

Arsenal

• Piero Hincapié returns as part of Arsenal squad ahead of the Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid. (Fabrizio Romano)

• Mikel Arteta when asked about Arsenal being PL favorites: “The only thing that I embrace is when I see team, energy, temperature, commitment, quality that they can deliver.. that gives me that conviction that we can go all the way but that’s it, that’s just a feeling”.

Aston Villa

• Julián Álvarez on his plans at Atlético Madrid: “Look, I believe we can beat any team. We have a great squad. We’ve grown game by game, and we can compete with anyone for sure”.

Barcelona

• Fermin López on Chelsea proposal in August: “My situation on the market… well, I was calm and relaxed. My wish and my desire was always to stay at Barcelona”.

• Hansi Flick: “We hope Raphinha and Ferran Torres can be available for El Clásico. We are on it. We will see their progress on Thursday”.

• Barcelona are concerned about the happiness of Lamine Yamal and fear he could submit a transfer request to force a move through to PSG. (Defensa Central)

Liverpool

Manchester City
