🚨 Chelsea appoint Liam Rosenior as new manager on six-year deal
Blues start a new era under the English manager.
Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Chelsea Football Club head coach Liam Rosenior on a long-term contract running until 2032, marking a significant statement of intent as the club looks to restore stability and sustained success at Stamford Bridge.
The 41-year-old officially takes charge following the club’s decision to part ways with Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, Rosenior had already signalled the move during a farewell press conference at RC Strasbourg, where he revealed that he had “verbally agreed” to take over in west London.
The deal was swiftly finalised soon after, confirming his return to English football after previous managerial spells with Derby County and Hull City.
Chelsea’s relationship with Maresca was broken
Chelsea’s hierarchy opted for Rosenior after a turbulent period under Maresca, whose tenure ended following a breakdown in relations with the club’s leadership and a run of underwhelming results.
The Blues felt a reset was necessary as they seek to re-establish themselves among the elite in the Premier League, particularly after several seasons of inconsistency both on and off the pitch.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Rosenior said:
“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club.
“This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.
“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.
“To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job.
“I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.”
Blues have high hopes from Rosenior
Chelsea believe Rosenior possesses the modern coaching pedigree, tactical adaptability, and leadership profile required to stabilise their long-term project.
Rosenior arrives in west London fresh from an impressive spell in France. During his debut season with Strasbourg, he guided the Ligue 1 side to European qualification for the first time in 19 years, earning widespread praise for his progressive approach and ability to maximise resources.
That achievement significantly raised his standing within European coaching circles and accelerated Chelsea’s interest.
With a lengthy contract and strong backing from the board, Rosenior is now tasked with restoring Chelsea’s competitive edge and translating long-term planning into tangible success on the pitch.
