In the case of Thomas Muller, I think it’s his final year. Normally, the plan was for him to end his career this summer ahead of the European Championship in Germany. But he wanted to stay a year longer because he’s feeling fit. Next year, it should be the end. Manuel Neuer hasn’t yet decided if this will be his final season with Bayern. I think he’ll never stop playing football, but as you’ve seen in the last few matches with Germany, he’s not as safe a pair of hands as he was in the past. There are voices within the club suggesting it could be a good idea for it to be his last season with Bayern Munich so he doesn’t end up destroying his legacy. Bayern want to cut the wage bill by 20%. The plan is to do this within two years. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller are earning around €20m a year gross. If they can take this off the wage bill, it will be easier to meet this goal.
