BAYERN MUNICH
Joshua Kimmich is a professional but you see how he’s playing at the moment. I think the discussion is not good for him when the coach is saying he’s not a No.6 but he’s insisting otherwise. He has a lot of pressure on him. I heard that Christoph Freund spoke internally and said that Thomas Tuchel is right - they could really use a No.6 as every big club has one in the squad. So the search continues. Joao Palhinha is one player Freund is looking at, but also Khephren Thuram of Nice is again a topic, so you see they’re testing the market! Another new name worth considering is Javi Guerra, a midfielder at Valencia; not classed as a No.6, he’ll be a talent for the future. He’s on the radar at Bayern. If you have seen the matches against Copenhagen and RB Leipzig, it’s hard not to notice something missing just ahead of the defence. Tuchel, I think, will still insist on a new No.6. Kimmich has to follow this search.
