EA Sports FC 27 to introduce one of the biggest changes yet to the game
This could transform the popular football gaming franchise!
One big change coming to EA Sports FC 27 will reportedly be the introduction of an open world known as “The Grounds”.
Early indications are that the next edition of the popular football gaming franchise, previously known as FIFA, will launch with an online, shared, free-to-roam world that adds a whole new dimension for players.
In something not dissimilar to the large virtual worlds players can inhabit on something like GTA, players will be able to move around in-between matches to visit gyms and shops, enjoying the off-the-pitch lifestyle of a professional footballer.
This has already been trialled in NBA 2K’s “The City”, a basketball video game, and it’s surely going to be a big hit with FC players when the game launches later this year.
When will FC 27 be released?
While not yet confirmed, it is usually early on at the start of the new club season that FC gets released, with current estimates being around September 25th 2026.
This is precisely the kind of thing fans might want a PSN voucher for, as it’s a convenient way to treat yourself to new games, or to manage your spending on extras within games. There will surely be exciting extra features to unlock on FC 27, so it’s a must-have if you’re looking to buy it, or if you need a gift for the FC gamer in your life.
We’ll probably know more closer to the release date, but there is also talk of FC introducing other fun games alongside playing regular matches and career mode, such as 5-vs-5 street games, and football ‘tennis’.
FC 26 ended up being a huge hit, selling over 10 to 12 million copies worldwide as of October 2025, so one can only imagine how many more have purchased it since then.
With this latest FC looking set to be one of the most exciting and different for many years, it will be intriguing to see how the figures this year will compare.
Players to watch on FC 27
Every year there is a tremendous buzz about FC player ratings, with Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe both being the top dogs for last year’s edition of the game.
There are always some changes, though, and it could be that we’ll finally see Salah dip a little for FC 27 after his loss of form for Liverpool in the real-life 2025/26 season.
Some of the most improved players in the Premier League have been the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Martin Zubimendi, Hugo Ekitike, and Dominik Szoboszlai, so they’re sure to have far higher ratings than on FC 26.
Others who are perhaps likely to go down in overall rating could be Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, who have not looked their usual selves for Manchester City this season, while other big names like Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer haven’t been quite as consistent as usual either.
The new “The Grounds” feature will, however, surely add a new dimension to the player ratings system, as guiding them through good lifestyle choices in the game’s virtual world sure to help get ratings up if used properly.
