England boss Gareth Southgate has some tough decisions to make before selecting the final squad for Euro 2024.

James Maddison of Tottenham and Curtis Jones of Liverpool have been excluded from Gareth Southgate's provisional England squad for Euro 2024.

Both of them have left the England camp that is currently training at Spurs' Hotspur Way complex in preparation for Friday's last warm-up match at Wembley against Iceland.

In Monday's 3-0 friendly victory against Bosnia & Herzegovina at St. James' Park, Maddison, 27, came off the bench.

He was included in England's World Cup team for Qatar in 2022, however he did not play.

He had an ankle injury in November that forced him to miss the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Jones, who did not play in Monday's game, has also been released.

According to information provided by Fabrizio Romano on X, the two Premier League midfielders have been left out of the squad and they have left the England camp.

Romano tweeted:

"England confirm that both Curtis Jones and James Maddison have left the training camp following decision to cut them from the Euro's 2024 squad."

After joining Spurs from Leicester, Maddison had an incredible start to the season, directly contributing to eight goals before the beginning of November. However, an injury interrupted his season.

Before revealing his final, 26-man squad on Saturday, Southgate needs to cut five more players.

On June 16, England will play Serbia in their first match of the tournament.

Slovenia and Denmark will be the other opponents in England's group.

Gareth Southgate and England will be hoping to go one step futher this time after failing to win the final of the last Euros against Italy.

England lost the big match against Italy on a penalty shoot-out with Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho missing the penalties for the Three Lions.

Meanwhile, Daily Briefing columnist Charles Watts has discussed who is going to start for England between Saka, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.

It is a good headache to have for Southgate with all three players in fine form.
