Erik ten Hag delivers encouraging update about Mount, Shaw and Martinez
Man United boss has issues an update about his players ahead of facing Burnley.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Mason Mount is back in the squad to face Burnley this weekend.
The England international has only made 17 appearances in all competitions in his debut season with the Red Devils due to a number of fitness issues.
After an extended absence, Mount just made his comeback appearance against Brentford at the end of March, registering a goal.
But owing to an undisclosed problem, the 25-year-old has missed the past two games against Coventry City and Sheffield United.
The only player back for Man United's last game of the month is the England international, although Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez have started outdoor training, according to Man United boss Erik ten Hag.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X account, the Man United manager provided the latest update on his players.
Ten Hag said, as quoted by Romano:
“Mason Mount is expected to be back in the squad to face Burnley”
“I think we will see Shaw, Martinez and Martial all in the season. They all returned onto the pitch and progress well”.
Shaw has been out since February 18 with a hamstring strain, Martinez has been out since March 30 with a calf strain, and Martial has not played since December 9 owing to illness and subsequent groin surgery.
While Mount has only made one appearance in the FA Cup, he has only played twelve times in the Premier League this season.
Nevertheless, he hopes to be available for the FA Cup final against Manchester City next month.
On Wednesday night, Man United defeated Sheffield United 4-2 in the league after coming back from behind twice. In the second half of the match, 18-year-old Ethan Wheatley made his first-team debut.
Against the Blades at Old Trafford, Wheatley made history as he became the 250th player to graduate from the renowned Manchester United academy.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update about Man United's interest in Jeremie Frimpong.
