Erik ten Hag urges Manchester United players to "take responsibility" after Brentford draw
The Man Utd manager had a message for his players after Brentford's dramatic late equaliser...
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called on his players to take responsibility after the disappointing 1-1 draw away to Brentford in the Premier League last night.
The Red Devils thought they'd won the game with a stoppage time strike from Mason Mount - his first goal for the club - but Brentford then fought back with almost the last kick of the game as Kristoffer Ajer fired home to make it 1-1.
Brentford were by far the better side on the night, with Man Utd a long way from their best, and Ten Hag didn't sound too happy afterwards as he called on his players to take responsibility.
The Dutch tactician also made the slightly surprising claim, however, that this could end up being seen as a good point for his side, which a lot of United fans probably won't be too happy about.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said: "Even when we don't play well we have to win the game and we almost did. That is what disappoints me the most. We should all stand up and all take responsibility for this. We will keep fighting. It could be a very good point in the end with many games to play..."
What's the latest on Erik ten Hag's future?
Writing in his column earlier today, Fabrizio Romano provided his latest information on Ten Hag's future at United amid ongoing speculation that he could be replaced once Sir Jim Ratcliffe puts a new board together at Old Trafford.
"It’s something normal when you have new (co) owners to discuss the manager position internally," Romano said.
"Conversations between INEOS and Ten Hag have always been good and positive in the recent months; but results in the final two months will be important to make a decision on Ten Hag. Also, Man United want to finalise their board structure before making any final decision on the manager."
