PSG under Luis Enrique - the real deal?
It’s been a good start to the season for PSG under new manager Luis Enrique, and with a raft of new signings. He’ll be glad now that the transfer window is closed, and with the work that’s gone into this squad as there’s now genuine quality and strength in depth, as well as a variety of different player profiles, which hasn’t really been the case for a number of years now.
I think Enrique now looks very well set to implement his new ideas and take the team in a new direction. It’s also really refreshing to see this French core of players, when you look at the likes of Lucas Hernandez, Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele joining Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe - this shows that PSG’s identity is changing a bit. Yes they still have some well known players that they’ve added to the squad, but they’re not of the same superstar calibre that we’ve seen in the past with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi. This suggests PSG are serious about making more of a team, as opposed to just a collection of individuals who can produce individual moments of ability to win games.
