Lionel Messi wins the Ballon d’Or again!
Lionel Messi has won his 8th Ballon d’Or in Paris - a special, historical night for him, but also for the award in general, because to see it go to Messi eight times is really something special. It was a tough competition against Erling Haaland this year, but Messi had a great World Cup and it’s hard to argue with the outcome here.
Jude Bellingham also won the Kopa Trophy - another intriguing battle because in my opinion Jamal Musiala has also been fantastic. It was a tough one, but Bellingham has won the trophy for the best young talent.
Could Bellingham be a future winner? We’ll have to wait and see, but players like him and Haaland are truly special, we’re already getting used to how many goals Haaland is scoring, but it’s not normal so I personally think he will be there before too long.
What’s the situation at Manchester United?
I’ve been getting many, many questions coming in from Manchester United fans after the disappointing performance in the 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag also raised a few eyebrows by stating that he chose Jonny Evans alongside Harry Maguire whilst leaving Raphael Varane on the bench for tactical reasons, but most of the questions I’m getting are about the future of the manager.
Is Ten Hag under pressure at Man United? Sometimes after results like this we start seeing rumours in the media, but what I can tell you honestly is that the feeling inside United is still the same - the current board keep supporting and trusting Ten Hag. They have decided to work with Ten Hag, backing him during the summer with transfer targets he wanted - Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Sofyan Amrabat were all wanted by Ten Hag.
