🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Crystal Palace tie down England international until 2027
Great news for the Eagles
It’s fair to say that Crystal Palace’s excellent recruitment and retaining of staff is still going a little under the radar, but there’s no doubt that the Eagles are moving in the right direction under manager, Roy Hodgson, and owner, Steve Parish.
The south Londoners have some of the most coveted players in their squad this season including Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, and a current ninth place in the Premier League table - just five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool - is testament to the hard work that’s being put in down at Selhurst Park.
Injuries permitting, this could well be a season where Palace push on and take things to the next level, and a Europa League or Europa Conference League placing won’t be beyond them if they continue to progress on an upward trajectory.
Despite being the elder statesman of the Premier League managers, Hodgson clearly has something about him which enables him to get the best out of his squad week in and week out.
Indeed, the first-team have been totally transformed under his guidance. It should be remembered that prior to his re-appointment last season, the Eagles hadn’t won a game in 2023 under Patrick Vieira.
Keeping hold of the club’s best players is testament to how well things are working at the club, and Daily Briefing columnist, Fabrizio Romano, has exclusively revealed some more good news for the club.
‘EXCL: Sam Johnstone set to sign a new three and a half year deal with Crystal Palace. Contract will be valid until June 2027. Documents to be signed this week. Option to extend for further year.’ he wrote on X.
The 30-year-old custodian who, like the three players mentioned above, is a full England international, will surely be delighted by the club’s faith in him, and that’s likely to be a reciprocal agreement.
How far can this Crystal Palace team go under Roy Hodgson? Are they dark horses for a finish in the European places this season? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
