'Exclusive story confirmed' - Bruno Guimarães finally signs new Newcastle deal revealed weeks ago by Fabrizio Romano
Five-year contract, £100m release clause
It’s been quite the week for Newcastle United and they’ve got something else to celebrate other than their brilliant 4-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Ever since Bruno Guimarães joined the Magpies he’s been a fan favourite, and though Eddie Howe’s side are getting better and better, all the while the club hadn’t tied him down longer term there was a worry that he could be poached.
That notion has now been put firmly to bed.
Back on September 23, Daily Briefing columnist, Fabrizio Romano, exclusively revealed on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that: Newcastle agree new deal with Bruno Guimarães, here we go! It’s done — contract until June 2028. Key detail: understand the new deal will include release clause and it will be in the region of £100m. Bruno, so happy to extend as he loves the club.
Though it’s only been a fortnight since that reveal, that will have seemed like an age to Newcastle’s supporters.
Fortunately, ahead of another tough test against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, Romano provided a pleasing update on Saturday, again on X: Official, exclusive story confirmed. Bruno Guimarães signs new deal at Newcastle valid until June 2028. Includes release clause around £100m.
The Brazilian has been such an integral part of Newcastle’s renaissance, that a squad without him in it could never be contemplated and though the club weren’t in need of a lift after Wednesday’s result, Bruno’s commitment will undoubtedly give them another lift.
Bruno’s influence on the team is obvious and he remains the heartbeat of a team that’s been moulded in Howe’s image.
“The fans have made me feel at home since my first day here and I feel so loved in my life. I'm so happy here. It's a place that is so comfortable to be — there are no words to describe how happy I am to be here,” Bruno said on NUTV.
That’ll be music to the ears of the Toon Army.
