🚨 Fabrizio Romano insists struggling Manchester United star will fight for his place despite swap transfer story
What's really going on with this out-of-sorts Man Utd player?
Fabrizio Romano has taken to his YouTube channel to discuss the latest on Antony’s future at Manchester United, insisting that there is no truth to the transfer rumours involving a possible loan move back to Brazil, or a swap deal with Flamengo for striker Gabriel Barbosa.
Antony has struggled during his time at Old Trafford, but it seems he remains determined to stay at the club and fight for his place, rather than return to his native Brazil this January.
Romano also added that United are yet to decide on signing a new striker, which will be a decision made closer to January as things become clearer with the club ownership and with what opportunities are emerging on the market.
“In the last 24 hours I told you that Antony is not returning to Flamengo. We had rumours of a swap deal between Manchester United and Flamengo - Antony on loan to Flamengo, and Gabigol to Manchester United,” Romano said.
“From what I’m hearing, they are not discussing a swap deal because Antony is not returning to Brazil. He wants to stay in Europe and at Manchester United to fight for his place, and so nothing is ongoing in terms of a swap deal.
“For United to sign a striker, it will be discussed in December, not now, and also it depends on the budget and the owners, but there is no swap deal between Antony and Gabigol.”
