Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool have scheduled contract talks with Ibrahima Konate for this month as they hope to resolve the France international’s future soon.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside, Romano explained that Real Madrid informed Liverpool around Christmas that they were not pursuing Konate, and it remains the case that nothing is advancing there.
“Liverpool remain in active conversations with Ibrahima Konate and his camp over a new contract,” Romano said.
“There are discussions ongoing with the French defender. At the moment there’s still nothing done or agreed, but the conversations are still underway.”
He added: “Let’s see if they can find a financial agreement … The player is open to continuing at Liverpool, but obviously it’s an important contract for his career.”
