📝👀 Is an agreement close? TRUTH behind Barcelona transfer links with in-form Brighton attacker
"It's expected to be agreed soon..."
Kaoru Mitoma may be being linked with Barcelona and a number of other top clubs at the moment, but Fabrizio Romano says the Japanese winger is actually getting closer to agreeing a new contract with Brighton.
Writing in today’s exclusive column for the Daily Briefing, Romano explained that, despite the speculation about Barca being keen on Mitoma, he’s not aware of anything concrete in that department.
In fact, it seems like Brighton could be making good progress on getting Mitoma to commit his future to the club.
“I’m aware of some talk of Barcelona making Kaoru Mitoma a top target for 2024, but honestly at the moment I’m not aware of anything concrete,” Romano said.
“Mitoma is appreciated by many clubs around Europe, but there’s really nothing advanced with anyone at this stage. Brighton, however, are making progress in new deal talks with Mitoma, and it’s expected to be agreed soon.”
What else has Fabrizio Romano said about Kaoru Mitoma?
The journalist has been fairly consistent on this, speaking about the player last month as well when there was talk of growing interest from the likes of Manchester City.
Writing in September, he said: “I asked today and there is nothing to report on player or club side. Brighton love Mitoma and for sure they want him to stay on a long-term deal, it’s very normal to see top clubs following him but as I said for Evan Ferguson, also for Mitoma we’ll get ten or more links per week but nothing will happen this or next month.”
He added: “Mitoma is 100% focused on Brighton and they don’t even want to mention an asking price for the player.”
