🚨 Italian football legend Paolo Maldini receives surprise Saudi offer
Al Ittihad are restructuring
He has long been the darling of Italian football and AC Milan in particular, the club whom he served with aplomb as a player for more than two decades, and latterly as technical director.
Paolo Maldini is a legendary figure in the game and yet since being sacked by the Rossoneri, the 55-year-old seemed to have disappeared into the shadows.
It’s not clear if maintaining a back seat was his decision or if it was down to a lack of suitable offers for his services, however, he’s now been given the opportunity to resurrect his career in Saudi Arabia.
Like many others involved in the game, Maldini has recently and perhaps surprisingly been courted by the Saudi Pro League as they continue to push forward in the hope of eventually securing a seat at football’s top table.
Daily Briefing columnist, Fabrizio Romano, announced the news exclusively on his X account late on Friday:
‘Paolo Maldini, the Milan and Italian legend is looking for a new opportunity and from what I'm hearing, he is a candidate to become a new director of Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia,’ he wrote.
‘Karim Benzema is there with N’Golo Kante and Nuno Espirito Santo was fired a few days ago as the manager. Maldini is the top candidate for the director’s job and of course they would need a new manager, but Al Ittihad want to change many things.
‘So, keep an eye on Maldini, who did an excellent job on and off the pitch at Milan, winning titles and bringing many important players - Leao, Theo Hernandez and many others - and let’s see if he takes up this possibility in Saudi Arabia. They are waiting for his decision.’
What do you think Paolo Maldini should do? Would his capture by Al Ittihad signal real intent by the Saudi Pro League? Let us know in the comments.
