Jurgen Klopp breaks silence on Arne Slot's impending move to Liverpool
Liverpool boss has spoken about his club's pursuit of the Dutch manager.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken for the first time about Feyenoord manager Arne Slot possibly taking his place at Anfield at the end of the season.
Liverpool began negotiations with Feyenoord in an attempt to expedite the process of selecting a new manager.
Even though Klopp said he didn't know if Slot would take over as manager at Feyenoord, he was all praise for the Dutchman and his work there.
After proving to be the most qualified applicant among Liverpool's leadership, Klopp has now officially supported Slot.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X account, Klopp has praised Slot for his football and coaching skills.
Klopp said, as quoted by Romano:
“I’m not involved, club-wise. I would like a lot that if Arne is the one he wants to take the job. I like his team's style, all I hear about him as a guy — good coach”.
“I’d tell him this is the best job in the world. Best club in the world, best people”.
In order to succeed Klopp, who will step down at the end of the season after nearly nine years in command at Anfield, Liverpool identified Slot, 45, as their top candidate, and on Wednesday they began discussions with Feyenoord.
After leading Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season, Slot inked a three-year deal with the Rotterdam-based team.
Following Xabi Alonso's decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and the Premier League club cooling interest in Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim, Slot, 45, became the front-runner for the Liverpool position.
Klopp's praise for Slot would encourage Liverpool and their fans as the club prepare to appoint the Dutch manager.
The Dutch manager has spoken of his desire to become the new manager of the Premier League club.
Slot has been endorsed by one of Liverpool's key players, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
