"Just regular scouting" - Fabrizio Romano clears up Arsenal links with Italian wonderkid
Could he be heading to the Emirates Stadium?
Fabrizio Romano has hinted that Arsenal are one of the clubs scouting Fiorentina youngster Michael Kayode, but their interest doesn’t go any further than that.
The Gunners have been linked strongly with the Italian youth international in recent times after his impressive displays at right-back in Serie A in recent times.
Arsenal don’t exactly need a new signing in that position as an urgent priority, but Kayode does look like the kind of young talent that it would be good for top clubs like them to keep an eye on.
Discussing the links with Arsenal, Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing column earlier today to play down the talks of anything particularly concrete happening.
“There have also been some other Arsenal transfer rumours about interest in young Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode, with the player’s former manager even name-dropping the north London club as one of the teams who could be a future destination for him,” Romano said.
“However, he signed a new deal with Fiorentina just three weeks ago. My understanding is that he’s very happy at Fiorentina and not close to any other club, so any links with Arsenal or others would just be about regular scouting activity by multiple clubs - we expect these clubs to keep an eye on one of the most talented full-backs in Serie A. He’s a very good player and one to watch for the future, for sure.”
