Thiago Motta in at Juventus, Stefano Pioli out of AC Milan
There are set to be managerial changes aplenty in Serie A this summer.
Thiago Motta will soon be announced as the new manager of Juventus.
The 41-year-old - who represented Genoa and Inter Milan during his playing career in Serie A - has been in charge of Bologna since September 2022.
His final home game for Bologna was a 3-3 draw against Juve on Monday night.
But he will soon be in the dugout of the Turin side, who have been courting him since last year.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X.com on Wednesday evening: “Juventus are closing in on deal to appoint Thiago Motta after working on it for 6 months.
“Motta’s set to accept Juve proposal, he has to inform Bologna in 24/48h.
“Contract will be valid for three years as reported last week, until June 2027 for less than €5m/season.”
Motta will replace Massimiliano Allegri at Juve after the 56-year-old was sacked earlier this month.
Since leaving Juve, Allegri has been cited as a potential candidate for Al-Ittihad.
However, Romano revealed on Wednesday that Allegri was in fact “not an option being considered” by the Saudi Pro League club.
As Bologna have been well aware of Juve’s interest in Motta for many months, club officials have had plenty of time to line up possible replacements.
According to Matteo Moretto in an exclusive column on Monday, Bologna have enquired about Maurizio Sarri but no offer has been made.
Juve and Bologna are not the only Serie A clubs set for a change of manager this summer.
Stefano Pioli is expected to leave AC Milan later this week.
The favourite to replace Pioli is ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, who is currently in charge of Lille in France’s Ligue 1.
Another update from Romano on Wednesday explained: “AC Milan will confirm this week their decision to part ways with Stefano Pioli.
“Paulo Fonseca remains the fav candidate to replace Pioli, as reported last week.
“Understand AC Milan have discussed two year deal plus option with Fonseca — he’s 100% keen on the job.”
