Missed opportunities for Arsenal this summer
Mykhaylo Mudryk is a player I’ve discussed many times, there was interest from both Arsenal and Everton in the summer. Arsenal had some conversations with his agent, but decided not to invest in the player now because of Shakhtar’s asking price. The player was available, but for a big price.
Mudryk was a missed opportunity because now his price is going to be crazy in January or next summer.
I also want to mention Youri Tielemans - a top player, still young, but proven in the Premier League, and available for only £30-35m this summer. Arsenal had him on their list for a long time but didn’t want to pay this kind of money for a player who could be available for free in only a few months. There was interest from clubs abroad as well, but they also decided not to spend that kind of money on him.
In my opinion, this was a great chance for top clubs. He’s a great player and a top professional. I’m sure that as a free agent he’ll be seen as an opportunity for many, many big teams.
Leicester to hold internal talks over Brendan Rodgers
For sure, the situation at Leicester is worrying. Brendan Rodgers' future will be discussed internally in the next hours and days, no decision yet as of last night.
I think it's not just about Youri Tielemans or any individual player - the real point is that they were not able to refresh the squad, sign two or three new important players as every Premier League side did.
One player they wanted was Jeremie Boga as a last minute target, but Atalanta rejected their proposal.
Liverpool scouts monitoring Joao Gomes
There’s been fresh speculation about Liverpool’s midfield targets, with one of the main names linked at the moment being Flamengo’s 21-year-old talent Joao Gomes.
Liverpool have monitored Gomes with their scouts as many other top European clubs did, at the moment there's nothing else to this story, no official bid or negotiation.
I think he's a very good player but he needs some steps before being ready for Liverpool level.
