Man United and Chelsea run the rule over exciting Brazilian teenager Lorran
Another off the production line...
South America remains a fertile breeding ground for exciting football players who are available at a snip when compared with those that have a similar skillset but who play in Europe.
Real Madrid hit the jackpot a few years ago when they did a deal for Vinicius, whilst Barcelona will surely be hoping that Vitor Roque has the same kind of impact when he joins the club in January 2024.
Not every player will be a hit of course, and many European clubs will have their fair share of misses, however, that’s unlikely to stop the scouting departments of clubs in the top five European leagues mining for gold in Brazil, Argentina and the surrounding countries.
The latest name to be linked with a switch to England is Lorran Lucas Pereira de Sousa, known as Lorran.
The 17-year-old operates predominantly as an attacking midfielder for Flamengo but can also play as an inside forward or on the right wing.
With six goals in 13 matches so far this season, his talent is obvious.
Premier League move on the cards?
Fabrizio Romano notes: Manchester United and Chelsea scouts recently tracked Lorran, Brazilian top talent born in 2006.
Release clause included in his Flamengo deal: €50m. He signed with Roc Nation Sports Brazil, the agency of JayZ — with Vinicius Jr, Paquetá, Martinelli, Endrick.
It isn’t clear at this stage if either Premier League club has followed up their initial interest, and they may consider €50m/£40m to be a hefty figure for a teenager.
However, he will be snapped up by someone so if either United or Chelsea want to invest in the world’s top young stars, they’ll need to pay the going rate.
