Arsenal are close to completing the appointment of Andrea Berta as new director to replace Edu. There are still formal details to sort with documents yet to be signed, but Berta is still giving priority to Arsenal.
Barcelona
Nico Williams on why he didn’t join Barcelona last summer: “Athletic is my family. The bond we have within the club is incredible. I don’t think I’d find this atmosphere anywhere else. At that moment, I made the decision that felt right, and I’m very happy with it.”
Barcelona legend Xavi confirms he wants to return to coaching in the summer: “Yes. I want to win the Champions League, the Euro, the World Cup. I am open. Why not coach another La Liga team? I am looking for an exciting project. Why not also take charge of a national team?”
Xavi: “Expectations at Barca for me as a coach were very high because of my track record as a player. I was deeply connected to Barcelona…Sometimes that worked against me. Maybe I was too emotional, but this experience was a real lesson.”
Xavi: “Beyond the titles, I feel very proud that I trusted a new generation like Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Alejandro Balde…They represent the future of the club. It makes me feel proud.”
Barcelona-Osasuna has been postponed, both clubs confirmed. A member of Barcelona medical staff has passed away, hence the players requested for the game to be postponed
Barcelona confirm the doctor of the first team, Carles Miñarro Garcia, has passed away. Rest in peace, thoughts with the family.
Robert Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi: “Robert will stay at Barça next season, it’s 100% sure. He’s happy at the club. He has a contract there and he will respect it until the end of its deal. Saudi offer? We’ve not received it.”
