Manchester United fan group calls for vote of no confidence in Sir Jim Ratcliffe
The Manchester United ownership are under growing scrutiny
Manchester United fans are calling for a vote in no confidence in owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe after the sacking of manager Ruben Amorim this week.
Red Devils supporters, led by protest group The ‘58, are officially calling for change, slamming Ratcliffe for the damage he’s doing at Old Trafford.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the 100,000-member organisation have released a statement calling Ratcliffe “incompetent”, whilst also taking aim at sporting director Jason Wilcox.
A spokesman said: “After lurching from one disaster to another, Ratcliffe comes across as an incompetent clown turning the club into a circus. Instead of best in class we’re a laughing stock.
“It has been an extraordinary and deeply troubling few days at Manchester United. On the pitch, we are watching mediocre performances from an average team drifting without identity, direction, or ambition. Off it, the chaos is even worse.”
They added: “‘We are once again witnessing Manchester United being run by executives learning on the job, at the expense of results, stability, and credibility.
“We call for a vote of no confidence in the ownership, Berrada and Wilcox.
“Let us be clear: this is not a defence of Ruben or the football served up under him. Much of it was unacceptable. But his dismissal once again exposes the continued dysfunction at our club. Manchester United is now a toxic partnership where fans are getting the worst of both worlds.”
It is not an easy time to be a United fan, with the club on such a downward spiral in the last couple of years, even more so than much of the rest of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
MUFC fans also pay some of the highest ticket prices in the country, so are entitled to expect better from the people in charge whose wages they’re paying, though they could probably also bring their matchday costs down with the help of a Visa Gift Card from a site like Eneba.
Who could be next Manchester United manager?
The club ownership now need to get the next managerial appointment right, with fans clearly not too happy at the possibility of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s return.
The Norwegian tactician is expected to take over in an interim role until the end of the season, but after that we will likely see a new permanent appointment made.
One big name coming up is Luis Enrique, who is set to leave PSG once his contract expires at the end of this current campaign.
The Spanish tactician is a proven winner, so could be ideal for the United job, though they might also favour someone with Premier League experience.
In which case, expect names like Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola to be serious candidates, while Enzo Maresca, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino might also be outsiders worth keeping an eye on.
