🚨 Mason Greenwood could be handed Manchester United lifeline says Fabrizio Romano
Striker's time at Old Trafford MIGHT not be over
Mason Greenwood is enjoying a good loan spell with Getafe.
The Manchester United striker, who was charged, and later cleared, of criminal offences including attempted rape, was shipped out to La Liga for the season following public backlash.
And although it seemed like the forward would never play for the Red Devils again, a glimmer of hope has been offered to the 22-year-old.
Writing in his exclusive column, leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, suggested a final decision over the striker’s future has yet to be made, and hinted Sir Jim Ratcliffe, following his successful 25 per cent investment stake, will be key in the decision-making process.
“Incoming co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is already discussing Greenwood’s situation internally, and from what I’m told, he’s made no decision at all and nothing will be decided in December,” Romano said.
“So the idea is to take some time and just let Greenwood play football. Then, based on his performances for Getafe, Man United will discuss their position and that of the player. This will likely take place in March, April or May.
“There will be many different factors to consider, and obviously the new Man United board will have a new CEO and new people in charge of the transfer market, meaning that they will all decide on transfer business together.”
During his time with Getafe, Greenwood, who is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025, has already scored four goals and registered three assists in 11 games in all competitions.
