Mauricio Pochettino praises man in form Cole Palmer after brilliant display
Palmer scored four goals in Chelsea's 6-0 win against Everton.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was full of praise for Cole Palmer after yet another brilliant performance.
The former Manchester City player scored four goals against Everton in a 6-0 win for the Blues.
With yet another hat-trick, Palmer took his Premier League goal tally this season to 20 goals, same as his former Man City teammate Erling Haaland.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X account, Pochettino showered praise on the 21-year-old after the match.
Pochettino said, as quoted by Romano:
"I never judge players when they sign, we always expect the best. But Cole Palmer hasn't surprised us".
"The way he's performing is fantastic. He is showing the club made a great decision to sign him".
Palmer scored a perfect hat-trick in just 16 minutes, leaving Everton with a very disappointing evening.
Later on, he scored his fourth from a spot-kick, but only after Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke got into an argument to take the penalty.
Additionally, it was his second straight hat-trick at Stamford Bridge after Palmer's thrilling comeback performance over Manchester United for Chelsea.
In the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday at Wembley, Palmer, 21, will try to show his former team Man City precisely what they are missing.
The Chelsea star's form has taken them from a midtable position to a respectable position in the league and given them hope of qualification for Europe next season.
Going into the match against Everton, Chelsea were suffering from a number of injuries.
However, that did not affect their performance. Not only did they score goals for fun, they also kept a clean sheet for the first time in a long time.
Pochettino would be hoping his team continues their brilliant form in the final stage of the season as they chase a European spot and FA Cup glory.
The match was overshadowed by an argument that broke out between the Chelsea players when they received a penalty, which Palmer decided to take.
Noni Madueke and Nicholas Jackson were both interested in taking the spot kick before Conor Gallagher moved them away and let Palmer take the penalty.
Pochettino had some strong words for the players after the incident.
