Mikel Arteta praises captain Martin Odegaard after emphatic 5-0 win against Chelsea
Odegaard managed to get two assists in the win against Chelsea.
Arsenal's decisive 5-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium lifted them three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League standings.
Despite Leandro Trossard's opening goal in the fourth minute, Mikel Arteta's team dominated from the start but were only able to score one goal in the first 45 minutes.
Following the interval, the Gunners increased the pressure, with Ben White seizing a deflected shot from Rice and Kai Havertz scoring a beautiful finish to put Arsenal out of Chelsea's reach.
After that, Havertz scored a fourth goal with a well-placed finish in the bottom corner, and White scored a goal with a lovely, delicate ball from Martin Odegaard into the upper corner.
Mikel Arteta was delighted with the win and praised his players after the emphatic victory.
He particularly reserved praise for his captain Odegaard who was pulling the strings for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on his X account, the Arsenal manager said:
"We saw and Edu especially, he was insistent to sign Martin".
"We both agreed he was a player with huge talent that could develop with us".
"We've always been convinced he was exceptional. We were convinced he could add something special".
The Norwegian was at the centre of everything that was positive for Arteta's team, putting on a brilliant show and recording two assists.
Arsenal's victory puts them three points ahead of second-place Liverpool, who have a game in hand, and four ahead of third-place Manchester City, who have two games in hand.
This victory will give Arsenal a lot of confidence going into Sunday's North London derby.
With only four games left for the Gunners to play in the league, the title race is set to go down to the final moments of the season.
Arteta's team has once again proved their credentials by fighting for the league title this season and Odegaard has been their shining star, along with Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.
