Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta took off star attacker Bukayo Saka in the second half against Manchester City in their all important Premier League match.

The England international was seen limping as he went off against the Premier League champions.

In his pregame press conference on Friday, Arteta stated that the forward had not trained before the game. Still, he played for seventy-eight minutes until Gabriel Martinelli took his position.

Concerns were raised about Saka's fitness when he left the field with the club physiotherapist during the second half. Arteta did, however, clarify that the young attacker was only taken off because of fatigue.

The Arsenal manager confirmed: “He just went out today with fatigue, nothing serious”.

Arteta will be hoping that his most creative attacking player is 100% fit for the Gunners' title run in, as they aim to topple the dominance of Manchester City and Liverpool in the league.

The match that was being dubbed as the title decider ended as a 0-0 draw, with both teams failing to create chances against each other.

Arteta and Guardiola cancelled out each other and tactically showed their genius by making substitutes that failed to give the other team any advantage.

The draw at the Etihad Stadium leaves Liverpool in a comfortable position, who are now top of the league by two points.

The Gunners drop down to second position while Manchester City remained third.

Arsenal's next game is against Luton Town on Wednesday night, followed by a difficult journey to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

With a busy April ahead of him, Arteta will be hopeful all his players are fit to deal with the hectic schedule at the end of the season.

Following their double header next week, the Gunners' upcoming opponents in April are Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Wolves, and Bayern Munich twice.

Speaking of Bayern Munich, here’s the latest update on their interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and how it affects Arsenal.
