Last night was a big shock for Manchester United fans and for football fans in general as Cristiano Ronaldo gave a strongly-worded exclusive interview to Piers Morgan. He said he felt betrayed by Manchester United and that he had no respect for manager Erik ten Hag. It was really strong stuff from Cristiano, and it’s only the first part of it, because the total interview is 90 minutes, with the rest coming out later this week.
Ronaldo revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson told him not to join Manchester City in the summer of 2021, and he said “yes ok boss” to return to Manchester United. Still, he now says nothing has changed at United since Ferguson’s time at the club.
What is United’s reaction? Well, needless to say, they were pretty shocked. They knew Ronaldo would be giving an interview to clarify his situation, but they were not expecting something like this. They didn’t think Ronaldo would come out with such big statements in the middle of the season. They chose not to respond last night as they wanted to maintain the good mood after their win over Fulham, but of course they know now that they have a major issue in the club.
