Pep Guardiola opens up on the future of 29-year-old Man City midfielder
The Man City manager has spoken of his desire to keep him at the club.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has cleared the confusion regarding the future of midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Guardiola has disclosed that despite Barcelona's interest in the Manchester City player, they have never communicated about a potential transfer for Bernardo.
The 29-year-old Portuguese international is a key player for Man City and he has consistently performed for Guardiola's team in their recent success.
The former Monaco midfielder has played in a number of different positions for the Sky Blues, showing his versatility and performing equally well in all the positions.
There has been some whispers about his future which have now been cleared by the Man City manager.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, Guardiola has revealed that the Premier League champions have received no offer regarding Bernardo.
Guardiola said, as tweeted by Romano:
“There are many rumours in the press on Bernardo but no one has called us so far”.
“We’ve received NO calls from Barça or any other club”.
“He’s a wonderful player, I hope he’s gonna stay with us at Manchester City”.
It is not surprising to see Guardiola publicly admitting that he wants to keep Bernardo at the club.
The player provides Man City with creativity in the midfield, calmness while they are in possession and finishing in the final third.
The midfielder was involved in 15 Premier League goals last season, scoring six and providing nine assists, helping his team win the league title for the fourth season in a row.
The 29-year-old appeared in 33 games in the Premier League last season for Guardiola, contributing massively to their success in winning the title race against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Man City goalkeeper Ederson could leave the club after Stefan Ortega signed a new two-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
