Amorim had a meeting with the West Ham board about becoming their new manager.
Sporting manager Ruben Amorim is highly unlikely to become the next manager of Premier League club West Ham United.
There has been another turnaround in the Amorim saga after talks with the Hammers.
Amorim was approached by West Ham as a possible replacement for David Moyes. However, the talks were not fruitful between both the parties.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on his X account that the Portuguese manager is not likely to become the new West Ham boss.
Amorim is keeping his options open as his talks with Liverpool are currently on stand-by.
Romano reported on his X account:
Rúben Amorim update. Understand after initial round of talks, it’s highly unlikely to see Amorim as new West Ham manager.
Discussions not expected to advance after meeting in London.
Talks on stand-by with Liverpool since last week.
Amorim keeps his options open.
The Reds, who will part ways with longtime manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, and West Ham, whose head coach David Moyes is still unsure about his future at the London Stadium, have both shown a great deal of interest in the Sporting Lisbon boss.
Amorim is having a fantastic season with Sporting Lisbon, who lead the Portuguese league by seven points at the moment.
The team will face Porto in the final of the Taca de Portugal, the top domestic cup competition in the country, on May 26.
It remains to be seen which club Amorim will be managing next season but there is a lot of interest in his services.
Whoever becomes the new manager of Liverpool, he will have to decide the future of one of their players.
Amorim's future still remains uncertain, with Liverpool and West Ham not keeping all their eggs in one basket.
They have other names on their mind as well so it will be interesting to see where this situation leads us.
