Seven players confirmed on Manchester United injury list ahead of Arsenal clash
Erik ten Hag delivered bad news regarding Mason Mount and Luke Shaw on Friday.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that England duo Luke Shaw and Mason Mount will not be fit to face Arsenal on Sunday.
Mount had featured in seven of United’s last nine matches in all competitions after recovering from a calf injury that saw him ruled out for four months.
However, Ten Hag revealed at a press conference on Friday that the former Chelsea midfielder had suffered a “new injury”.
In quotes shared by Fabrizio Romano on X.com, Ten Hag said: “Mason Mount will be out against Arsenal, he’s been really unlucky with new injury”.
Ten Hag added that Shaw had “also suffered a set-back in his recovery” from a muscle problem.
United’s double injury blow means that Ten Hag will be without at least seven first-team players for this weekend’s Premier League game against title hopefuls Arsenal.
United’s biggest problems are at the back. Shaw is joined on the United injury list by fellow defenders Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Willy Kambwala.
Centre-back Lisandro Martinez is back in training but he may not be ready to face the Gunners.
However, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes are all in contention to feature on Sunday after missing United’s 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace earlier this week.

Despite being at home, United will start Sunday’s game as underdogs against an Arsenal side that has taken 43 points from a possible 48 in 2024.
Mikel Arteta’s men beat United 3-1 in London back in September and there is currently a 29-point gap between the two sides in the Premier League table.
Arsenal have the best defensive record in England’s top division this season, having kept 17 clean sheets and conceded just 0.78 goals per game on average.
Conversely, only Luton, West Ham and Sheffield United have allowed more shots than the Red Devils, with Andre Onana making 137 saves as well as conceding 55 goals.
Improving their backline will surely be a priority for United this summer.
Romano reported in this morning’s Daily Briefing that Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer remains on the club’s transfer list, while Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is also said to be a top target.
