Spain reach semis after late win over Belgium
Spain have reached the semifinals of the FIFA 2026 World Cup after a narrow win over Belgium last night. A late goal from Mikel Merino sealed a 2-1 win for the Spanish national team.
Fabian Ruiz handed his team the lead in the 30th minute, but Belgium fought back through Charles De Ketelaere in the 41st minute. Both teams managed to cancel each other out after that, but a late error from substitute goalkeeper Senne Lammens allowed Merino to score from close range.
Spain will now take on France in the semi-final of the World Cup.
