Tottenham decide to part ways with midfielder, he is attracting interest from La Liga
His disappointing spell in North London is expected to end soon.
Tottenham have made up their mind to part ways with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
The Argentinian spent most of last season on the bench after not being used by manager Ange Postecoglou on a consistent basis.
He made just 22 Premier League appearances for the North London club, scoring two goals and creating two goals in the process.
Lo Celso has one year left on his contract and Spurs have decided not to waste any time in getting some return on their investment.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X, the midfielder's future lies away from the Premier League club and he is attracting interest from La Liga club Real Betis.
Romano tweeted:
“Gio Lo Celso and Tottenham are still planning to part ways this summer with one year left on his contract.
“Real Betis are among clubs interest, they made contact with Lo Celso’s camp recently.
“Nothing advanced yet as Betis work on exits before, including Nabil Fekir.”
Romano has made it clear that Betis are keen to make a move for the Tottenham midfielder and before going ahead with the deal, they want to get rid of their own player Fekir.
After an outstanding season at Real Betis, Giovani Lo Celso joined the North London club in the summer of 2019.
This was a season-long loan agreement that was extended to a permanent one the following summer.
Despite his great expectations upon joining the club, the transfer proved to be unsuccessful for both the parties.
The player was part of the Tottenham manager's plans at the start of last season, but he didn't perform well again.
He was only able to start four of the 22 games he participated in during the previous campaign.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are eyeing a move for versatile defender Hiroko Ito, who has a release clause of €30m.
