FA Cup round-up
Macclesfield upset Cup holders Crystal Palace
Macclesfield produced one of the FA Cup’s greatest shocks by knocking out holders Crystal Palace with a stunning 2–1 win in the third round on Saturday.
Captain Paul Dawson put the non-league side ahead with a header just before halftime, and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts doubled the lead on the hour.
Yeremy Pino pulled one back with a 90th-minute free kick, setting up a tense finish, but eight months after winning their first major trophy, Palace crashed out with a flat and disappointing display.

Aston Villa make matters worse for Tottenham
Tottenham’s late surge wasn’t enough to keep them in the FA Cup, as they fell 2–1 at home to Aston Villa, piling more pressure on Thomas Frank.
First-half goals from Emiliano Buendía and Morgan Rogers handed Villa control, and although Wilson Odobert pulled one back early in the second half, Spurs couldn’t find an equaliser and suffered their fourth defeat in seven games.

Newcastle beat Bournemouth in FA Cup classic
Newcastle goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saved three penalties in a dramatic shoot-out to knock Bournemouth out of the FA Cup after a wild 3–3 draw that included a 95th-minute equaliser for Newcastle and a 122nd-minute reply from Bournemouth.
Ramsdale denied Evanilson, Alex Jimenez and Bafode Diakite to spark huge celebrations at St James’ Park after an instant classic filled with six goals.
