Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is no closer to agreeing a new contract at Stamford Bridge amid interest from London rivals Tottenham.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on yesterday’s Debrief podcast, Spurs were linked with Gallagher in the summer, though a January move doesn’t necessarily look likely for the England international as things stand.
Chelsea could hold talks over a new deal for Gallagher soon, but there’s no agreement yet, and one imagines this could soon lead to clubs like Tottenham stepping up their interest in the 23-year-old again.
“Tottenham have been linked with Conor Gallagher in the past, but I’m not sure he’s going to be someone to watch in the January window,” Romano explained.
“Chelsea want to have stability and Gallagher has been an important part of their midfield, so I think they will focus on other areas like striker and centre-back.
“In terms of a new deal, discussions are not at an advanced stage yet, but Mauricio Pochettino is happy with him and the player is happy with his game time, so I think it’s something to check again maybe in December and January.”
He added: “Tottenham are also not in any negotiations for Gallagher as of now, it’s all quiet.”
