Could Trent Alexander-Arnold make a shock return to the Premier League?
This would surely be one of the shock transfers...
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move from Liverpool to Real Madrid was always going to be one of the most emotionally charged transfers of the modern era.
A boyhood Red, a local hero and a symbol of Liverpool’s resurgence under Jurgen Klopp, his decision to run down his contract and join Los Blancos on a free was viewed by many at Anfield as nothing short of betrayal.
For Trent himself, though, it was framed as a dream move, the ultimate challenge at the biggest club in the world.
Fast forward and that dream has not quite followed the glossy script many expected.
Alexander-Arnold’s early months in Spain have been disrupted by injuries, inconsistent form and the unavoidable adjustment period that comes with changing leagues, cultures and tactical demands.
La Liga is unforgiving, and so is the scrutiny that comes with wearing white at the Santiago Bernabéu. As a result, whispers have begun to circulate: is a Premier League return already on the cards?
