Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich agreed with Burnley set to receive €12m in compensation
Kompany will be in charge of Harry Kane and Co next season.
Vincent Kompany will start next season as the new manager of Bayern Munich.
The 38-year-old will replace Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena this summer.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X.com on Saturday afternoon, Kompany has agreed contract terms and will sign a deal until June 2027.
Kompany’s current club Burnley will receive €12 million in compensation.
Kompany has just completed his second season in charge of Burnley.
The Clarets ended the 2023/24 campaign 19th in the Premier League and were therefore relegated.
But Kompany’s stock remains high after he led Burnley to promotion with 101 points in the previous season.
Before taking charge at Turf Moor in June 2022, the 38-year-old former Manchester City defender had two spells as Anderlecht manager in his native Belgium.
His move to Bayern this summer will be regarded by many as a big step up.
He will be in charge of a star-studded squad - including Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane - and be judged by a fanbase that expects and demands success.
Kompany will likely want to bring in some new players this summer.
However, reports that Bayern are lining up a move for Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish are wide of the mark, according to Romano.
In an exclusive column published earlier on Saturday, Romano wrote: “English media have suggested that Jack Grealish could be on his way to Bayern, but it’s curious to see a player linked even before a meeting with the board to discuss transfers.
“The agreement with Vincent Kompany is done and Bayern and Burnley are still in negotiation over final details, but before mentioning any targets we have to wait for Bayern to meet with Kompany and discuss.
“There’s really nothing in the Grealish link at the moment.”
