West Ham set crunch board meeting amid relegation fears and Jarrod Bowen uncertainty
Huge week ahead for West Ham!
West Ham have had a poor season so far as they prepare for what is going to be a relegation fight.
After a disastrous first half of the 2025–26 campaign, the club’s season has reached a tipping point, with both the manager’s and the captain’s future uncertain.
Board meeting set as Nuno’s future hangs by a thread
According to the latest update from transfer insider Indy Kaila on X, Tuesday’s fixture at the London Stadium is effectively a final chance for manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
The West Ham board is reportedly scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss “all options” regarding the managerial position if the team fails to secure a victory against the Seagulls.
The Hammers have endured a barren run under Nuno, who replaced Graham Potter in September but has struggled to drag the side out of the relegation zone.
Currently sitting 18th in the table and winless in their last seven outings, the pressure has become unsustainable.
However, the most concerning revelation from Kaila is that even if the managerial situation is stabilised, the club is braced for a massive loss in the squad.
Despite his status as the club’s talisman and captain, Jarrod Bowen is still “expected to leave in the summer.”
Kaila posted on X: “The West Ham United board will discuss all options regarding the manager’s future on Wednesday if the team fails to beat Brighton on Tuesday night. The situation is on a knife edge. Jarrod Bowen still expected to leave in summer.”
Liverpool and Tottenham lead the race for Bowen
While West Ham owner David Sullivan has maintained that Bowen is ‘untouchable’ during the upcoming January window to assist in the relegation battle, the summer of 2026 appears to be a different story.
The 29-year-old winger is reportedly eager for a final chance at Champions League football, a goal that looks increasingly impossible at the London Stadium.
Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been strongly linked with the player in the past and continue to be linked with him.
A move to the Reds however remains unlikely at this point given the player’s age and Liverpool’s preferred transfer policy regarding spending on players nearing 30s.
However, Tottenham remains a possible destination for Bowen. Spurs would be keen to link him with his former teammate Mohammed Kudus.
Newcastle are another club who could sign the Englishman in the summer.
