Why Tosin Adarabioyo preferred a move to Chelsea over other clubs
Adarabioyo had interest from other clubs but the offer from Chelsea attracted him the most.
Chelsea are hoping to complete the signing of defender Tosin Adarabioyo next week.
After reaching verbal agreement to complete the signing, the Blues are expected to seal the deal as early as next week.
Adarabioyo, who has chosen not to extend his contract with Fulham, is eager to test himself at the highest level and is available on a free transfer.
With Thiago Silva's departure, Chelsea are in need of a new central defender.
They also have the benefit of being able to give the 26-year-old European football after beating Newcastle to a Europa Conference League slot.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the signing of Adarabioyo at Chelsea will get completed by next week.
The transfer expert also revealed the reason behind the defender choosing Chelsea over other clubs.
Romano tweeted:
"Chelsea expect Tosin Adarabioyo deal to be signed and sealed next week, after verbal agreement reached.
"Tosin believes Chelsea are offering the best project for his future, with Enzo Maresca also being a factor for his decision."
Chelsea's new manager Enzo Maresca is set to be announced soon and the Italian manager prefers to play possession football.
Adarabioyo is being signed by the Blues as he would be ideal for the style of football that the new Chelsea manager will deploy at Stamford Bridge.
The player is keen to join Chelsea this summer as he feels that the Blues offer him the best project for future success.
The fact that Maresca and Adarabioyo knew each other from their respective stints at Manchester City contributed to Chelsea's decision to pursue the defender.
He is going to add experience and depth to the Chelsea squad after the departure of Silva this summer.
The defender will come to Stamford Bridge as a free agent in a major coup by the London club.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are closely monitoring Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville ahead of a potential move this summer.
The Dutchman scored 20 goals and registered nine assists in the Championship last season.
