BAYERN MUNICH
At the beginning, they were searching for a goalkeeper who will stand in goal until Manuel Neuer comes back. But now there was a change of mind from the Sportausschuss (sports committee), as Neuer was doing so well in training that they think his comeback will be much sooner than expected. They said, in this case, they don’t need another No.1, but they do need another goalkeeper in case Sven Ulreich (who is the No.1 now) gets injured. So Daniel Peretz (23) won’t be the man in goal for the next few matches, Ulreich will be there and Peretz will be the back-up. Because he’s 23, he’ll be an investment for the future. There’s a five-year contract, it’s a done deal. We won’t see him on the pitch immediately after his transfer though.
Benjamin Pavard is really disappointed about Bayern’s behaviour. When Hasan Salihamidzic was the sporting director, he had promised that if an acceptable offer came in the summer Pavard would be allowed to leave. But now Salihamidzic is gone and the new bosses didn’t agree with Manchester United’s offer and have yet to agree to Inter Milan’s offer, and now they’ve agreed a loan deal with Josip Stanišić to Bayer Leverkusen, they’ve realised they have no backup if Pavard goes. Now, they have an agreement with Inter over the transfer - it will be €30m plus €5m in add-ons. If they don’t have a replacement for Pavard, he won’t be allowed to leave. United were very interested, but they have a problem themselves in that they can’t sell Harry Maguire to West Ham. Pavard had the possibility to leave to Inter in the winter but wasn’t interested, though he’s now open to this move in the summer. You can see how disappointed he is with Bayern and how strongly he wants to leave.
