Bayern Munich edging closer to Ralf Rangnick appointment
The Bundesliga giants have finally found their Thomas Tuchel replacement.
German giants Bayern Munich are close to completing the appointment of new manager Ralf Rangnick.
Thomas Tuchel is set to leave the club at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign in the Bundesliga.
After chasing a number of other managers, Bayern Munich have decided to go with Rangnick.
They are set to reach an agreement with the former interim Manchester United manager after positive talks with him about the strategy of the club and the signings.
After soaring through qualifying, Rangnick, 65, is currently in command of the Austrian national squad and getting ready for the European Championships.
Bayern are prepared to trust him as their replacement for Thomas Tuchel, even if it's his first position since leaving Manchester United after a turbulent six months as interim manager.
The former manager of Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig has had fruitful conversations with the Bayern hierarchy.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on his X account that the appointment is really close after positive talks.
Romano reported:
FC Bayern are discussing final details with Ralf Rangnick in order to complete the agreement really soon. The appointment is really close.
Main part of the points about project, influence of the manager for signings/outgoings and more have been discussed; it's been positive.
After first-choice target Xabi Alonso declared he would be staying with Bundesliga winners Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season, the Bavarians identified Austrian head coach Rangnick.
Rangnick is reportedly eager to rejoin Bayern as a club manager, and negotiations are already heating up in the hopes that a deal may be finalised shortly.
In February, Tuchel declared that he will leave his position as Bayern's manager at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Bayern director Max Eberl has provided an update about Alphonso Davies' future as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
